I' am flabbergasted this solution works so well!
Well, when having a hard problem, just ask the expert.
You got the invisible ink part done too. The blue ink makes the red transparent. So you can say that's you're using a special marker that erases the red (makes it "transparent") while simultaneously outputting blue.
I could have said it, but you did it first. Thanks to you, universe knowledge and mankind made a leap. Congratulations and many thanks!
7 lines can be perpendicular strictly to each other in a 7 or higher dimensional space
You are right. But could you have wait for RUclips 7D? I could not, so I found this solution to this problem useful.
@@xhellas im the expert here
its not transparent.... Fired.
With all due respect, I can do better 🤑
Great! Sounds exciting. Notify me when it is done please!
@@xhellas sorry I didn't mean disrespect, if you took it that way. I just came back to post comment on the original video. Then I saw your video so thought of commenting here as well. Thinking which one will pay me better😆✌️
@@PrashuRGupta it did not took it badly. I was just sincerely waiting for your proposal 😂
In geometry, lines are one dimentionnal objects, but yes, plenty other lines can be bent. My phone one is. I count more than 7 lines drawn with transparent ink. Why so much? Where are the lines with green ink ? Where is the line in the form of a kitten? What about the balloon? Why with transparent ink instead of what was asked ? Alex, the task has been set. It was plain and clear. I know you're an expert, but please respect customer wishes or we'll find another expert. ... thanks for creativity though... (<- smile with transparent ink inside)
Oups! I gave you the work done for another client... Too much work, too much success, you know what I mean. Don"t you like it anyway? These are 2023 colors and harmony, trust me. And happy new year!
@@xhellas Is it me or we both are frenchies speaking to each other in english ? (the "oups" betrayed you). Non, t'as propal est excellente. Paci e saluta comme on dit chez moi.
no, im sorry. we changed our mind, could you draw round perpendicular lines in the shape of a square?
Shall we add a blinking effect on the paper edition?
You forgot to blow the balloon
Did you subscribe to my chanel?
Brilliant!!
The client: "no this is not what we asked for!"
We follow your written specifications. We are deeply sorry than they does not reflect what you have in mind.
@@xhellas You're being passive-agressive.
@ it is the one that answers the client, not me! Aren't business relations often of this kind?
You redefined the problem. You appear easily deceived 😏 A) you eliminated seven perpendicular lines. Curves can be orthogonal as shown. Curves cannot be perpendicular. Lines can be perpendicular. B) You eliminated drawing the lines. You drew a background. C) You eliminated the color requirements. Total fail. Sorry.
I have some answers : A) lines can be curved lines B) is it really possible to draw a line. Is it really possible to draw anything? Yes if you drawing induces a perception, an understanding. What you see here are lines while before drawing there was only a plain background. So I think that we can say that lines have been drawn. C) the pencil used was "blue" while you can see "red" lines on the final drawing. Color are here between double quotes in the previous sentence. Did I really omit the color requirements? Could you be clearer?
@@xhellas In Geometry a line: 1. is straight 2. extends in both directions without end (infinitely).
youre a genius, an absolute mastermind
I wish this wasn't that visible, but well, I expected this to be known one day or another.
Excellent work
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
No I'm sorry, this doesn't match our requirements. Can you please make some with green ink as well? Oh also some with transparent ink.
Then let sign another contract with modification changes as specifications .
Curves are not lines...
I was told that straight lines and curved lines were both lines...
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_(geometry) Vs. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curve
Heck, my solution is to use a sphere with latitude and longitude lines.
how on earth would that help?
@@MrMinermation At least my lines would be straight and orthogonal. These lines are bent.
@@dasc0yne theyre clearly not parallel as they meet and only some are perpendicular, which can already be achieved on a flat surface.
oh and they're bent
and not able to be on a road
I feel like "transparent ink" would just be transparency grid on a JPEG.
KITTEN, Alex! Not a cat. Studies show that kittens are much more adorible ;)
Adorible? Is this like lovhatable?
It's a nice contribution but just have to link to the D. Scott Williamson Mobius solution! ruclips.net/video/B7MIJP90biM/видео.html
Actually *none* of those lines is drawn with blue ink - only _the background_ is. Also, they should *all* be perpendicular to each other, i.e. none of them could be parallel - but 1-6 are parallel horizontally, and 2-7 vertically. (In two dimensions you can only have two lines all perpendicular to each other, and in three dimensions three lines. Any more than that can't be drawn [or sculpted] in our three-dimensional reality.)
Let's enter The Twilight Zone...
@@xhellas: No “Twilight Zone” necessary. WTF does that even have to do with anything? It's just drivel. You just couldn't fulfill the conditions. (Obviously, since they're impossible.) Too bad you can't just admit that (even to yourself?), but persist in spouting gibberish in your “defense”. Next you're going to say “But it was just for fun, can't you appreciate a joke!” Yes I can - *if* they're funny. Which this might have been if it hadn't so obviously violated the given conditions. But it did, so it wasn't.
@@ChristianConrad I believe, I think, I hope, that we agree that only blue ink is used to draw whatever can be seen here, including the cat. What can be seen? Lines, that are red. Oh yes, these lines are curved, not question about this. How many? Let say an integer greater than 6 and lesser than 8, so lets pick 7, using a quite random generator that agrees with these bounds. I did not try a WTF dice, but let me know if you do. Do each line intersects with each other? Yes, and with a straight angle. Now let put what precedes in a single sentence : 7 red lines drawn with blue ink, intersecting each other orthogonally (with a cat). No line pairwise parallelism is advertised here or elsewhere in the video, nor orthogonality. What did you expect?
@@xhellas man, maybe you're right. But... You forgot to inflate the balloon (kitten shaped). Everything else is useless. And you call yourself an "expert"?
Only under Euclidean geometry can you not have parallel and perpendicular lines at the same time. But if you paid attention to the meeting they said pretty explicitly to ignore geometry.
You are really expert!!!!! Amazing%%%@$$@%%$@%
Where are the red cat balloon and transparent line?
Actually nowhere. They weren't meant to be in the deliverables. Right?
unless otherwise specified, a line is always a *straight* line, which means no curves. As such, this only contains 2 lines. Also the original video wanted some of the lines be drawn with green ink and one of the 7 lines be in form of a kitten - none of which is satisfied here.
Don't worry, be happy...
According to the Concise Oxford Dictionary of Mathematics (4 ed.) : "(in two dimensions) Usually implies a straight line, though in certain contexts it can mean a curve.". So no it's not always a straight line.
@@thestultavekidjo that "in certain contexts" would be the "unless otherwise specified" part, that leads my "always" statement... So my statement still stands as it was.
They specified otherwise when they said ignore geometry.
@@giantnoah "[Geometry] is concerned with properties of space that are related with distance, shape, size, and relative position of figures." (wiki quote). As such, if you ignore geometry, you can not draw lines *at all* , because lines *are* geometry...
My eyes
with a ... KITTEN!!!! ;-)
Well, many people ask to change the title of this video. So let's do it!
One of the 7 lines were required to be in the form of a cat. And where are the transparent lines? Furthermore, a line may not have any angle .... failed. :-)

No please! Do you want a little present to avoid this?
The kitten is not a line Make the kitten drawn on one single line
the lines are not perpendicular
When they cross they are. Aren't they?
they cross at right angles but perpendicular is a relationship between two straight lines or a straight line and a plane. the lines are not straight, so they are not perpendicular. 7 Red Lines is not a puzzle to be solved, it's an example of how bosses use technical jargon incorrectly because they don't know what it means. Asking for seven red lines, all strictly perpendicular doesn't make sense because being perpendicular is not an inherent property of the line, it's a relationship between the line and something else. Since they don't specify what the lines should be perpendicular to, and on a 2D plane seven lines can't all be perpendicular to each other, the request doesn't make sense.
My video is an example of a maybe surprising realization of what one could think unfeasible. The cat appears lately because if it were there when the lines appears he could be very afraid and had a hearth attack, or more likely lose all its hairs. Additionally, for your knowledge, the wood from which lines are extracted is drawn from a rare species of Canada birch.
MalcolmCooks actually, the definition of a straight line is not that strict. Wikipedia even says that the definition of a line is often an axiom of mathematics (aka, it's kinda arbitrary). For example, you can have three "straight" lines be perpendicular to each other, if you draw them on a sphere.
There was no definition, how many dimensions should be used for this task. So if you draw a hypothetical representation of 7 spatial dimensions, 7 lines can easily be drawn perfectly perpendicular to each other.
Needs green lines, transparent lines, and a kitten. Cats are different.
The green lines are transparent
no it needs 2 red perpendicular lines drawn with green ink, and 2 red perpendicular lines drawn with transparent ink, but all red and perpendicular to each other
and the balloon
holy shit that's amazingly inspirational actually!
they have to be perpendicular to each other at the same time
This is true from 0:46. Yes!!!!!!!!!
THERE ARE ONLY TWO LINES
Izzy Lopez A line doesn't have to be straight.
Yes, it does… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_(geometry)
That is cute, but yeah, instead of following what they asked for (which is business) you gave them your interpretation (engineering). The problem lies in that it did not fulfill all of the requests in the way they requested it. Awesome concept, it shows creative thinking, but also shows a lack of following directions completely. We know realistically demands cannot always be met as they are requested, but that is why the video was made to show not that it cannot be accomplished somehow, but that it cannot be accomplished within the parameters specified. There were a lot of areas, also that the lines had to be a cat, you simply drew two things seperate from one another. There are other nuances and if you truly figure it out, more power to you, but good try!
"I can, of course, draw you a cat. It won't be a line anymore. A line and a cat, these are two different things."
Alan Larimer kitten. Not cat. Kitten. Alan please, don't confuse the issue any more than necessary! The task is set, after all
Hahaha, nothing is impossible!!! They can ask for what they want, and you can respond with what you want...
these are not strictly perpendicular
Really? But they are orthogonal aren't they?
woops! i meant to say that they're not strictly orthogonal - because i guess they are perpindicular. From what I remember in school, orthogonal means it's not projecting onto the same planes. so these lines wouldn't be orthogonal at all ----- if i remember correctly.
man.. you are a genius!
Hush ... it must remain secret!
Then you shouldn't make this video LOL Very smart :)
But those are curves
Maybe these lines are not that straight. But they are not meant to. Is it worth a comment?
A line is a very specific kind of curve, and those are not lines.
@MDucky The non euclidean geometry exist! You can project this on an specific 3D shape and then you will have your complaints resolved.
Since the manager and the clients don't know care about sensible geometry, I think this is they can't tell any different.
A line doesn't have to be straight.
www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/line.html some red lines Lines should be blue! and etc. 7 lines can be perpendicular in 7 dimension model or in some non-Euclidean geometries. Red, blue lines will be identical on monochromatic display (B/W display for example), transperant lines - you can skip them
Sad but true...
Your consumtion of blue ink is unbearably high, optimize that.
What if only an eraser was the tool used, and the blue was a nice spring sky appearing progressively?
Alex andre Then you did not use the blue ink to draw red lines which does not comply with customer's request.
A little blue ink was needed to hide some clouds in the sky. But not so much, actually.
eraser = transparent ink?
It's a cat not kitten :(
some of them are not lines five have curves
TR the definition of a line
long thin mark [countable] a long thin mark on a surface a straight/wavy/dotted/diagonal line a vertical/horizontal line parallel lines Draw a thick black line across the page.
In mathematics lines are strictly straight
Great effort but I think you need to go back to the full requirement as detailed in the video "The Expert". Simplified it was: 7 Red lines, strictly perpendicular, some with green ink some with transparent ink. There was no requirement for the lines to be straight specifically beyond the constraint of them being "strictly perpendicular", but there was the requirements to have one in the form of a kitten.
A line is not a line once it has been bent. And the point of intersection doesn't make two lines perpendicular, having opposite reciprocal slopes does
A line is a line, bent, curved or otherwise. Straight is just one attribute a line may have. From Oxford: Line - "long thin mark" [countable] a long thin mark on a surface -a straight/wavy/dotted/diagonal line -a vertical/horizontal line -parallel lines -Draw a thick black line across the page.
Nice one. You should have zoomed an intersection of these lines because here, we may have a doubt! What about a fractal solution?
In geometry a line: • is straight (no curves), • has no thickness, and • extends in both directions without end (infinitely).
1-6 are not lines !!
Maybe but who really knows? Actually no human being ever saw a real line since it has no thickness and as a consequence no surface to reflect or absorb light...
+Alex andre you got me there
Then technically you can't draw them :) Brilliant job btw
Extremely awesome! Thank you :-)
What about the green ink? and the transparent ink?
The transparent green ink is used from the begining to the end of the video. It draws grass and it is needed to keep the cat steady. I should have emphasized that, sorry. Thank you so much to care about this!
Im still missing the baloon
